A ‘My’nologue is a ‘self’ portrait painted with words, A magical journey of introspection and reflection crafted from life experience, fantasy, imagination, and five (5) randomly selected words - That inspire students of all levels, learning styles, and abilities.
The Magical ‘My’nologue Experience is a unique interactive monologue/scene study workshop designed for the person who seeks to discover their purpose in life and reach their highest creative potential - A strengths-based approach that develops self-expression skills by identifying and encouraging “natural” abilities, gifts, talents, and instincts.
The interpersonal benefits are evident far beyond the classroom in such areas as: conflict resolution, peer pressure, problem solving, accountability, self-esteem, critical thinking, and public speaking.
Two of Rochester’s most accomplished veterans of Stage & Screen combine to offer an innovative monologue/scene study workshop featuring a showcase performance on July 29, 2013.
Gary Dewitt Marshall, Impresario and creator of the Dark Blue Mondaze Theatre Showcase Series, How 2 Hollywood Hustle, Cypher Supreme, and Poets & Story Tellers – a professional performance platform for all forms of artistic expression. On Television, Mr. Marshall played Detective John Smollers in Life on Mars. He has guest starred on: Without A Trace, Southland, New York Undercover, ‘24’, “ER”, Angel Street, Matt Waters, Gemini Man, and Unsolved Mysteries. On Broadway, Marshall originated the role of ‘Freedom Fighter’ Michael Dube in the Tony Award nominated drama “The Song of Jacob Zulu.”
Michael Atkins Yawn, Artistic Director of Imani Theatre Ensemble. Mr. Yawn’s resume’ is very extensive, he joins us with over 30 years of experience as a director, actor, and playwright. His adult curriculum consists of monologue presentation, scene study, and improvisational techniques. In addition students will learn how to fully develop various characters. Students will learn several aspects of the “Chubbuck Technique” which was developed by international acting coach, Ivana Chubbuck. Ms. Chubbuck has helped to launch the careers of many notable actors, such as Halle Berry, Kate Hudson, and legendary Robert Redford, just to name a few. Individuals on different levels of acting skills and experiences will benefit from studying with Mr. Atkins Yawn.
